Vaulz: We will fight for every millisecond

In Monaco, both Williams drivers were eliminated in the second part of qualifying, but they start close to the points-paying positions…

James Vowles, team principal: “Qualifying in Monaco is always interesting, and this year was no exception. Both drivers performed brilliantly. For Carlos, it all came down to one lap on cold tires in the first part of qualifying, and he drove it fantastically.

Alex gave it his all in the second session; we were just a few milliseconds short of getting both cars into the final. These were the tiniest details that could have helped us advance, or not, but over three races on completely different tracks, we either made it to the final or were close to it – and that’s significant progress.

I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s race. We still have chances from the positions we’re starting from. I want to thank the team. If you look at our car today, you’ll notice significant changes in the rear wing area. This work was completed in just 18 hours. And that’s an exceptional result – from aerodynamic development, load calculations, and production, to installation on the car. It demonstrates the drive to win every millisecond, and we will continue to fight for that every week.”

Alex Albon (11th): “I’m happy with 11th place. I couldn’t make it to the final, which is a bit disappointing, but I pushed my last lap to the limit. I brushed the wall in the third sector while attacking, which cost me some time, but it didn’t lead to more serious consequences.

This weekend, we chose a different approach to try to get into a rhythm after a series of challenging race weekends and time lost on track, so we aimed not to complicate things but to gradually improve results and build potential in each session.

The strategy for Sunday’s race involves one pit stop, so a good start will be crucial to gain a few positions and get into the points.”

Carlos Sainz (12th): “On one hand, I’m glad to have made it to the second session; on the other hand, I regret making a few mistakes, locking up the front tires in several corners, which ultimately cost me the chance to advance further.

We know that overtaking in Monaco is difficult, but we’re not too far from the top ten, so I’ll try to make a good start and do everything I can to earn points.”
