Vasseur, who is currently unavailable, is reportedly 'doing well' as the initial updates surface.

Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur was unable to attend qualifying in Monaco as he was hospitalized for medical evaluations. The Italian team announced shortly before qualifying that the 58-year-old Frenchman would not be at the circuit, stating he was receiving local examinations and would be kept under observation. Ferrari did not reveal the specific nature of the issue, only expressing hope that Vasseur would be back at the track "soon." His deputy, former Formula 1 driver Jerome d’Ambrosio, took charge of the team during the Monaco event. "Without going into specifics, he’s doing well," d’Ambrosio told Sky Italia. "He had to undergo some tests today, but he’s doing well." Charles Leclerc also aimed to reassure Ferrari supporters after qualifying, saying, "Fred was quite involved today, even though he wasn’t at the track. We miss him here, but he was still supporting us." While the reason for Vasseur’s hospital visit has not been officially stated, Germany’s Bild pointed out that he has dealt with chronic back and disc issues for years. The report indicated that the pain has at times been so intense during long flights that Vasseur couldn’t remain seated. It remains uncertain whether these issues are related to his absence in Monaco. Italy’s La Gazzetta dello Sport also noted that Vasseur faced back problems in 2024 and subsequently underwent surgery. His absence coincided with a disappointing qualifying performance for Ferrari, where Lewis Hamilton secured P3, while Leclerc struggled and expressed frustration over ongoing braking issues, stating, "Very disappointed. I’m not surprised, because over the last two weekends I haven’t felt comfortable with the car, specifically with the brakes. It’s a known issue, and hopefully we can resolve it for Barcelona." This setback follows Ferrari's recent announcement of a contract extension for Leclerc. Alpine advisor Flavio Briatore believes both parties made the right choice. "That was his decision," Briatore told Corriere della Sera. "At this point, he fully identifies with Ferrari, so it was right for him to renew and for Ferrari to keep him. He’s a great driver, fast and intelligent."
