Steve Nielsen: We believe that we did not violate anything.

After the finish of the Monaco Grand Prix, Steve Nielsen, managing director of Alpine F1, commented on its results, noting that the factory team of the Renault group has already requested the right to review them.

Steve Nielsen: "This day in Monaco was not easy, although there is good news: we have a fast car, and Pierre Gasly had a great race. We were able to fight with our closest competitors, and we outpaced them – that's wonderful.

Unlike his teammate, Franco Colapinto faced difficulties with balance, but he was not satisfied with the car's behavior from the very beginning of the weekend, and this affected his race. He was not comfortable behind the wheel and could not find the right rhythm. We still need to understand what this was related to.

Additionally, of course, we received 5-second penalties for speeding in the pit lane. To be honest, we do not understand why these penalties were issued, and we do not understand why many teams received them – I believe there were a total of six such penalties.

All of this is very strange; usually, so many penalties accumulate over an entire season, and today it happened in one race. Therefore, we have reached out to the FIA and want to exercise our right to review these decisions.

This is not a protest, not an appeal – it is a somewhat different procedure that allows us to gather all available data and evidence and, together with the FIA, fully understand how the stewards concluded that we violated the rules by exceeding the speed limit in the pit lane.

We believe that we did not violate anything, but we are ready for them to prove otherwise. So, there is an open dialogue with the FIA aimed at figuring out what we could have done differently, or how the FIA could have acted differently. This will become clear in the coming days or even weeks – time will tell.

But I repeat: the good news is that the car is fast, and we will prepare for the next round in Spain, where we will face our competitors again."
