Villeneuve advises Ferrari to bet on Hamilton.

      In the F1 Show podcast, 1997 champion Jacques Villeneuve stated that in his opinion, Ferrari should bet on Lewis Hamilton...

      Jacques Villeneuve: "Lewis knows how to win, knows what it takes. And if he feels even the slightest chance of victory, he will take it.

      I think Lewis is the one who can change the situation in the championship. Right now, Mercedes has no option to choose one driver over another; they will be taking points from each other, while Ferrari can put everything on Hamilton, since Leclerc is already losing quite a bit to him in the championship.

      Leclerc had time to build a team around himself, but he didn't do it. Remember, he joined Scuderia after a mediocre season at Sauber, suddenly getting a huge contract as if he were a world champion. Perhaps that was too much and too soon?

      He never had to tailor anything specifically for himself. Everything was given, everything was ready. He was fast, and that was more than enough, as it was thought that this car wouldn't be able to win the championship anyway. He won a few races, outpaced his teammate Vettel, and everyone was happy.

      Then came Lewis, who had a less successful season last year. But it was hard for him to adapt to this car; he needed time to properly organize everything around him. Last year, Leclerc was quite satisfied with this. But when Lewis made this car and this team his own, he moved ahead, leaving no chance, while Leclerc was not ready for this."
