Formula 1 teams closely monitor the technical innovations that appear with their rivals and turn to the FIA for clarifications regarding their compliance with the regulations. If the FIA confirms that everything is fine, the idea is copied; if not, the authors of the solution have to remove the controversial part from the car.

After Barcelona, such a situation occurred with the endplates on the diffuser of Mercedes, which appeared as part of the latest update. Ferrari noticed this solution, sent a request to the FIA, and it seems the federation decided to ban it.

A document is currently being prepared, which is expected to come into effect at the Austrian Grand Prix, but Mercedes is requesting a delay until Silverstone so that after the race they can return the cars to the base and make changes, as they have already been sent from Brackley to Spielberg.
