Leclerc: I hope more favorable times will come.
Charles Leclerc, like his Ferrari teammate Lewis Hamilton, anticipates that they will face challenges at Silverstone, which is related to the characteristics of the British track's configuration, where the shortcomings of the SF-26 car will be fully revealed.
Charles Leclerc: "The British weekend program includes a sprint, and I like that, but we do not expect to stand out particularly at this stage of the season. Partly for the same reasons that caused us difficulties in Austria.
That track has quite a few straight sections, but Silverstone has even more, and there are few corners where you can recharge the battery. So I expect that we will have a tough weekend. Unfortunately, theoretically, we will also find ourselves in a less favorable position at the next two stages, but we will do everything we can.
I want to say that I have been working hard over the past few weeks, and at least on Saturday in Austria, things were going much better for us, after which some hopes appeared. But before the weekend in Spielberg, we had a skeptical mindset, and the team as a whole did not perform well on Sunday. However, I also had a number of problems, but I just try to show maximum perseverance and hope that better times will come.
We still have serious problems on the straights, and while on Saturday at the Red Bull Ring our car handled the corners very well, which largely helped to compensate for the difficulties, on Sunday, when we need to manage tire wear and solve other tasks, the importance of speed on the straights increases, and our problems are exacerbated."
