The latest in car news and reviews, no nonsense.

If you were a fan of Gran Turismo 2 in its prime, you probably clicked on this listing for a Venturi 400 Trophy for the same reasons I did. During a time when many promising but ultimately unsuccessful boutique supercars were common, Venturi outperformed most others. The company had a dedicated one-make race series, in which this Yacco-liveried car, now available for sale at Animoya Garage, participated. Today, it’s up for grabs at a price of $385,000.

The 400 is powered by a twin-turbo, 3.0-liter PRV V6 engine, producing 408 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque, which is naturally sent to the rear wheels. About 90 units were produced, with the majority being race cars like this one, which took part in a spec series similar to the Porsche Cup or Ferrari Challenge, traveling around French circuits for four seasons.

Although aimed at gentleman racers, Venturi's vehicles were a fixture in elite GT racing worldwide throughout the early to mid-'90s, which explains their presence in games like Gran Turismo and, my personal favorite, as AI opponents in Sega’s Scud Race.

At the bottom, there's a photo from the one-make series that this 400 Trophy raced in. Animoya Garage.

But let’s move beyond video games, because if you have the funds, you can own the real deal. This 400 Trophy was raced in the 1992 and 1993 editions of Venturi’s championship by Pierre Regnault. Unlike many similar cars that were adapted for road use post-racing, this one remained unaltered, apparently seeing little action until 2006, when its owner began displaying it publicly.

Around a decade ago, this 400 Trophy returned to the track for historic events, which required some powertrain maintenance, including a rebuilt transmission. A standard service was recently done before it listed for sale now. Plus, if the car isn't enough of a perk, the buyer will reportedly receive a stylish pair of “custom Yacco-livery Nike Dunks.” Porsche enthusiasts may sport shoes that match their cars, so why shouldn't Venturi fans enjoy the same luxury?

Unfortunately, no images of the shoes have been shared, so if you’re curious about their appearance, it’s best to contact the seller.
