Hamilton stated that he should have the final decision regarding the Ferrari deal for 2027.

Lewis Hamilton is increasingly anticipated to stay with Ferrari until 2027, although reports indicate that the final choice might ultimately be up to the seven-time world champion. Italian sources indicate that Ferrari is set to activate an option for Hamilton's contract extension through the end of 2027, but an announcement is not expected at Silverstone. The agreement is reportedly contingent on Hamilton finishing in the top three of the championship before the summer break, a target he is presently achieving, but it's also suggested that only Hamilton can ultimately choose not to extend his contract. There are currently no indications that he plans to do so.

While at Silverstone, the 41-year-old shared why he feels much more settled compared to his challenging 2025 season. "One reason is a car that I have significantly contributed to developing," Hamilton stated. "There are aspects of the car, like the front suspension, that I requested last year, and I had it produced for the simulator and tested there. This year, I finally got the brakes I wanted, which was a big push."

He mentioned changes in his personal engineering team, adjusting some team connections, and realigning himself with the higher-ups in the organization to ensure they are on the same path and working as allies instead of adversaries. "Now things are in a much better place, allowing us to move forward in synergy."

Hamilton pointed out that as Ferrari's performances improved, so did the trust between him and the team. "Last year was extremely challenging every weekend," he noted. "Naturally, during tough times, people tend to pay less attention to you. ‘Why should we listen to you when the results are poor?’ It took a significant amount of time to rebuild that trust, and I feel it's now established, with my requests being addressed."

He also remarked that Ferrari is once again acting as the Formula 1 standard that he believes it should be. "Competing at the front again, compared to where we were last year, is an impressive turnaround for us as a team," he said. "Every weekend we bring new parts; we’re continually evolving. Last year, I questioned, ‘Where’s the innovation?’ Ferrari is the largest and most successful team in this sport. It should be a leader for others to emulate. This year, we’ve seen that with the rear wing and the exhaust component, which other teams have now adopted. It’s fantastic to witness."

Hamilton’s resurgence has also amplified the pressure on his teammate Charles Leclerc, who acknowledged that he is still adjusting to Ferrari's evolving setup. "It’s certainly not the performance level I expect," the Monegasque told Sky Italia. "I arrived very early this morning and have been analyzing the data for the past few days. I'm a bit overwhelmed, but I’m pleased with the progress made, and whenever I’ve faced challenges on the track, the work has usually helped resolve them. We’ve made some significant changes to the car, and I need to adapt to that quickly."
