We've been discussing the sales rivalry between the Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco since the latter's launch for the 2021 model year. We've noted several times how closely contested this race has been. As of mid-2026, Jeep has moved 86,254 Wranglers, while Ford has sold 76,936—still trailing the Wrangler, but Ford claims to be gaining momentum.
“Bronco achieved record results in Q2 and the first half, surpassing Jeep Wrangler sales for the quarter,” the company noted in an 8-K securities filing added to its investor site on Thursday. “Q2 sales increased by 15.9%, and first-half sales rose by 6.8%.”
The statistics indeed support Ford's assertion. Jeep’s cumulative advantage stems from a strong Q1 (44,461 units). The last three months haven’t been as robust (41,793). A decline in sales during spring and summer seems unusual for a convertible off-roader, but we aren't privy to Jeep's marketing or incentive strategies.
Conversely, Ford appears to be heavily promoting the Bronco. The company sold 45,739 units in Q2, significantly surpassing its Q1 total (31,197), yet the early deficit of 13,000 units has put Ford at a disadvantage. Two additional quarters of outselling the Wrangler by about 4,000 units won’t be enough to close the gap on its own, and while Jeep’s sales may be stable, they aren’t dropping.
Furthermore, Ford attributes the Bronco's gains to a record-breaking Q2. This indicates that Ford will need to keep achieving quarterly sales records if it hopes to close the distance with its rival. It's still a competitive race; let’s see what unfolds after halftime. In the meantime, enjoy the excitement.
