Pierre Gasly will lose three positions on the grid for the British Grand Prix. The Alpine driver was penalized for impeding Lance Stroll in the first part of qualifying.

The stewards determined that Gasly was on a slow lap when he was caught by the Aston Martin driver, who was on a fast lap, at the fifteenth corner. Pierre remained on the optimal racing line, forcing Stroll to go around him. Gasly explained to the stewards that at that moment his radio was not working due to technical issues with the FOM equipment, and a FOM representative confirmed this.

The stewards took this fact into account but noted that technical problems with the radio do not absolve the driver of responsibility for blocking another car, and penalized Gasly, who qualified twelfth, with a loss of three grid positions.
