Laurent Mekis: We apologize to Max.

The British Grand Prix ended for Max Verstappen with a crash off the track on the 46th lap of the race due to the rear wing not fully closing and its movable element not returning completely to its original position.

As a result, for the second weekend in a row, team principal Laurent Mekies had to apologize to the four-time world champion: "There was a malfunction on Max's car related to the rear wing, so the responsibility lies entirely with us. We apologize to Max.

This kind of problem, which causes him to go off the track, has happened before, and it is always unpleasant. But the most important thing is that Max is okay.

The pace in the race was definitely better than in the previous days of the weekend – in this regard, we made some progress. In the middle part of the race, when we were on hard tires, things were not going well, but at the start of the distance, Max confidently handled the first two segments on Medium tires.

Today, Max could have made it to the podium, as he was fast enough to overtake both McLaren cars and one of the Mercedes drivers, but we missed that opportunity. Now we need to move forward; progress depends only on us.

This was only the second race in the updated car, and the top priority now is to address issues of technical reliability and ensure that both drivers can finish the race while being able to attack at full strength, without any problems hindering them."
