Briatore: Two cars in the points – a good result
On Sunday at Silverstone, the Alpine team scored points with both cars…
Flavio Briatore, team principal: “Scoring points with both cars in the team’s home race is a good result, considering our starting positions and speed issues. We understand that we need to progress and actively implement innovations, especially given the ongoing competition with the Racing Bulls, who have been very strong in the last two races.
In the Constructors' Cup, we are in a tight battle with them, but we are currently lagging on the track. The team in Enstone is working at full capacity; we all need to act cohesively to return to our previous positions and lead the midfield.”
Franco Colapinto (9th): “It’s great that at the end of a challenging weekend we have a reason to celebrate. Starting from 19th, I knew the race would be tough. We were a bit lucky that several other cars dropped out, but we got involved in the fight and were able to take advantage of the situation at the end of the race.
I managed to gain ten positions – more than I expected, so I’m happy with the result. And considering that Pierre also finished in the top ten, it’s nice that in the team’s home race we scored points with both cars.
I had a good start and had some interesting duels on the first lap. We had a strong first stint on Medium tires; the car was fast and allowed for overtaking. It’s a pity that a restart wasn’t announced at the end – I wanted to try to overtake Bortoleto. In the last two weekends, the Racing Bulls have been faster than us, and we need to improve our speed to challenge them.”
Pierre Gasly (10th): “On one hand, we should be happy that we scored points, especially considering our starting position. Today we managed to take advantage of some issues with other drivers, but our closest rivals benefited from that too.
For me, the weekend was filled with problems. Yesterday, the radio communication failed, which led to a grid penalty for blocking, and today during the pit stop, there was a system failure that cost me time and position on the track.
In the end, we were just trying to limit the damage, and one point is our bonus. This is my 500th point in Formula 1 – a nice personal milestone, but we need to focus on refining the car to earn points consistently and steadily.”
