In Monza, starting next year, a sprint will take place.
Today in Milan, at the famous "La Scala" theater, the official presentation of the cultural program for the upcoming Italian Grand Prix took place. In particular, Geronimo La Russa, president of the national automobile club ACI, confirmed that starting next year, a sprint will be included in the weekend program in Monza.
"We have reached an agreement that starting next year, for three years, we will have a Saturday sprint," he announced. More detailed information about this will be released later, but it is already clear that the promoters of the Grand Prix are interested in holding such a race on the classic Italian track.
La Russa also mentioned that all tickets for the upcoming September race in Monza have already been sold, and the demand was such that measures had to be taken that were not initially planned:
"Additional grandstands were added, although this was not in the plans. Initially, we thought that only ACI members would be accommodated there, but it was decided that they would be open to the public."
Additionally, the official poster for the Italian Grand Prix, created by artist Maestro Lodola, was presented at the ceremony, and it was announced that the national anthem before the race will be sung by Francesco Meli, the Italian tenor who has performed many roles on the "La Scala" stage.
Stefano Domenicali, president and CEO of Formula 1, also participated in today's event, and his speech included the following words: "Culture plays a central role in Formula 1 as well. Yesterday, a record attendance was recorded in Silverstone, and I hope that no less of an audience will be at the race in Monza.
Tickets for the Sunday race are already sold out, as Ferrari is once again in the spotlight, and the same goes for Kimi Antonelli, who represents our country. All of this promises that the Italian Grand Prix will be a great success."
