Vowles: Williams' goal is to compete for the title by 2030.

      Carlos Sainz's contract with Williams expires this season, and after the race in Silverstone, the Spanish driver expressed his concerns about the team's current form. In turn, Williams' team principal James Vowles intends to make every effort to retain Carlos and promises a title fight by 2030.

      James Vowles: "Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon are the two drivers I want to see behind the wheel of our car. Period. There's nothing more to discuss here. Carlos has the experience of winning races, and that's why I did everything to bring him to our team.

      The problem I often see in many companies is that there are people who work very hard, but if you don't understand what a truly high level looks like, you don't know what to strive for.

      I really like one saying – you can endlessly improve a candle, but it will never turn into a lantern. Sometimes you need to first understand what a real lantern is to say, 'We need to stop doing what we're doing and move in a different direction.'

      And Carlos is capable of giving us exactly that. It's not about conflicts, and it's not about arguing with each other. It's about something else, about what point we need to reach, and how much time it will take.

      Speaking of timelines, our goals are as follows – by 2028 we must be ready to win races, and by 2030 – to fight for the title."
