The speculation surrounding the replacement for the Cadillac sedan has been intensifying this week, and we’re ready to contribute to the buzz. A prominent Cadillac sales representative has revealed some significant news: Cadillac is developing a gas-powered successor to the CT5, which is likely to be a Cadillac version of the anticipated Camaro Sedan—featuring a naturally aspirated V8 and a manual transmission.
Andrea.sells.cadillac shared this information in an Instagram reel, which also seems to indicate that the XT6 crossover will be making a comeback sooner rather than later.
“My sources have confirmed this, and I haven’t seen it reported elsewhere,” she stated. “The CT5-V will be available with a naturally aspirated V8 engine and will offer both manual and automatic transmission options.”
She estimated that the price would fall in the range of $70,000 to $80,000, which aligns with the current CT5-V. We were initially skeptical, given that this appears to be new information, so we reached out to Cadillac for confirmation.
The “naturally aspirated” detail is the new information here. Prior to this, we had only heard rumors about a returning Camaro (likely as a four-door) and a potential revival of the Blackwing with its supercharged V8. The existing CT5-V comes with GM’s twin-turbocharged V6 and is only available with an automatic transmission.
“We do not comment on speculation regarding future products, and we have no new announcements at this time,” a Cadillac spokesperson confirmed to us via email. “That said, Cadillac has confirmed that the CT5 will be returning as an internal combustion model in the future.”
In other words, we’re not getting a definitive “no.”
If (when?) this proves true, it will mark the first time since the Chevrolet SS was discontinued that GM offers a sedan with a naturally aspirated V8 and a manual option.
