Steiner believes that Vowles will be fired from Williams.

      The 2026 season is proving to be extremely unsuccessful for Williams. The team began a new era of technical regulations as the underdog, missing the first week of testing and preparing a car that turned out to be too heavy, significantly lagging behind competitors in speed. Williams managed to reduce the weight of the car, but serious progress has not been achieved. Guenther Steiner, who was dismissed at the end of 2024 as the team principal of Haas, believes that the current head of Williams, James Vowles, is destined for the same fate. "Although I think James is not doing his job well, I believe he needs at least some time to read all his emails," Steiner joked on The Red Flags podcast. "He received them back at the beginning of the year. He knows what needs to be done; he just hasn't had the time to read everything yet. So let him first sort out his emails and find a solution by the end of the year. If by the end of the year he still hasn't managed to read all the emails, then he can be fired. If things continue as they are now, then after five or six races next season, there will be changes in the team. There has been enough time to read the emails and fix the situation. If you haven't done that, then it's time for you to leave. At the beginning of the season, Williams promised: 'We will come back, we know exactly what to do.' And what is the result? Now they are, on the contrary, moving backward instead of forward." By the summer break, Williams left in ninth place in the Constructors' Championship, having earned eleven points. Steiner believes that the team's rivals from Grove, primarily Aston Martin, will be able to overtake them by the end of the season. "I think Aston Martin has a good chance of earning two points in one race, two points in another, and ultimately reaching those eleven because I don't think Williams will earn even one more point," concluded Guenther Steiner.
