Sergio Perez: I am very happy to be back in Formula 1.

      Sergio Perez admitted that he had doubts about whether to return to Formula 1 after missing a season, but he ultimately accepted an offer from the new Cadillac team. The Mexican driver believes that in 2026 he will be able to prove his professional qualities even behind the wheel of a non-competitive car.

      At the end of 2024, Red Bull decided to end its collaboration with Perez and prematurely terminated the contract signed just a few months earlier. Since the new American team is having its debut season, it was difficult to expect high results for objective reasons, but Sergio is confident that all his doubts about the feasibility of collaborating with Cadillac F1 are in the past.

      "I think I'm performing at a very high level," said the 36-year-old Perez in an interview with Racer. "I had doubts about whether to return to Formula 1, but now I'm very glad I came back because I was able to prove to myself that I am still one of the best.

      I believe that people who understand our sport know well what results I am able to show even behind the wheel of this car. In Formula 1, this is the most important thing, and the level at which I am currently competing makes me happy.

      There was a period when I experienced some professional burnout, as sometimes in our sport you become a victim of injustice, and I felt it was time to do something else. But I decided to return, and I'm glad I accepted this new interesting challenge. I was ready for it.

      I've always said that it's very important for an athlete to organize their life properly both in and out of sports. After all, Formula 1 is just a small part of our lives. We hope to live much longer than our careers will last, so it's important to start thinking about what happens outside the racing world in a timely manner, and I've always understood this well.

      I already have very interesting projects that I want to pursue, so I lead a very active life outside of our sport. But I also look forward to the moment when it will be time to end my career, because when you compete in Formula 1, you have to fully dedicate yourself to this job."

      Sergio Perez's performances this season have already caught the attention of other teams in the championship, but he made it clear that he intends to continue collaborating with Cadillac F1:

      "It's nice to see interest from other teams. In my opinion, when you drive well, your value always increases. Of course, some movements are possible, but for me, the most important thing is to observe the processes that will take place over the next few months. I want to see how we progress."
