Ferrari pledges to maintain a rapid pace of upgrades.

      Ferrari intends to keep introducing frequent smaller upgrades following the summer break, rather than adopting McLaren's approach of fewer but larger updates. McLaren made significant progress in Hungary, where reigning champion Lando Norris secured victory after a challenging start to the 2026 season. Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur states that the two teams simply have different development philosophies.

      "McLaren makes a significant leap with every major update," he noted. "We have a different philosophy. We aim to introduce new components at every race."

      "We must sustain this momentum. There are still 11 or 12 races remaining, and we have ample room for improvement across the chassis."

      Mercedes chief Toto Wolff has raised doubts about Ferrari's ability to maintain such frequent updates under the budget cap while Mercedes is preparing a substantial package for after the break. Vasseur claims that Ferrari has notably reduced its early-season disadvantage. "Up until Spain, Mercedes had a clear advantage over us and amassed around 100 more points than us over four or five races," he explained. "However, since Spain, we have scored more points than Mercedes in the following races."

      Still, he acknowledged that Ferrari needs to enhance its race execution. "If I only consider Hungary, I would say our execution wasn't up to par. That had actually been one of our strengths at the beginning of the season."

      Charles Leclerc, who has recently narrowed the gap with his teammate Lewis Hamilton, downplayed Ferrari's championship chances. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves with the championship," he stated. "Right now, it's crucial to concentrate on each race and maximize our performance on the track."

      Ferrari has reportedly bolstered its chassis department by hiring Carlos Sanchez Martinez from Aston Martin and Luciano Nicomede from Mercedes. Sanchez Martinez specializes in structural calculations and material stress, while Nicomede comes on board as a senior chassis composite designer.
