The top-performing three-row SUV you can buy is receiving an upgrade. Introducing the 2027 Lucid Gravity GT-S—what Lucid describes as “a new performance-oriented version” of the Gravity, emphasizing that it’s incredibly fast.
“With 1,070 horsepower, the Lucid Gravity GT-S is the most powerful three-row SUV in America,” the company announced.
Most powerful? Definitely. The quickest? Maybe not. It can reach 60 mph in 3.1 seconds, which is impressive, but the Tesla Model X Plaid presents a strong competition here. Tesla asserts it can achieve 0-60 in just 2.5 seconds, which speaks volumes. Lucid has not disclosed a top speed, allowing the Plaid’s 163 mph limitation to remain significant.
On the other hand, the Tesla Model X is no longer in production.
Let’s be honest, the hyper-speed SUV market is quite limited, mainly consisting of luxurious electric vehicles and a few V8-powered models. The Dodge Durango Hellcat is the most accessible option for those seeking extreme speed in a three-row family vehicle, especially considering the high price of the Escalade V. The Cadillac also outweighs the Lucid (cue frantic searching) and delivers less power. While batteries do add weight, so do full-size SUVs.
However, 1,070 horsepower surpasses the Gravity Touring’s output (560 hp) by about 50%, and provides roughly a 20% increase over the already speedy Grand Touring (828 hp). The GT-S also features the Dynamic Handling Package as standard, which includes a three-chamber air suspension that aids stability at higher speeds, along with rear-axle steering.
“With the Lucid Gravity GT-S, we’ve developed a more dynamic and thrilling version of the Gravity SUV,” stated Lucid Chief Creative Officer Derek Jenkins in the company’s announcement. “It merges exceptional performance with the comfort, space, and versatility that characterize Gravity, offering our customers an unparalleled experience that is distinctly Lucid.”
And it can be yours for the attractive price of $127,750—if you're based in the U.S., as this is the only market expected to receive the Gravity GT-S for now. Given today’s market, that amount could buy you a Durango Hellcat and then some. Is that additional half a second worth a 50% increase in cost? Perhaps, perhaps not, but the convenience of never needing to stop at a gas station again? That might be invaluable.
