Mitch Evans: I have nothing left to lose, and that's an advantage.

There is no doubt that Mitch Evans is one of the best drivers in Formula E, but he has never managed to win the title in the electric series, although he has been a vice-champion three times, including last year. This weekend, a double-header season finale of Formula E is taking place in London, and we reported that the chances of the New Zealander, who drives for Jaguar, significantly decreased after Saturday's race. Before the final stage of the championship, he was in second place in the personal standings, with just a couple of points less than the leader, but now the situation has changed.

As a result of yesterday's events, the leader of the World Championship has changed – it is now Pascal Wehrlein, while Evans has dropped to third place, and he is already 21 points behind the Porsche driver. He raced aggressively, fighting for positions, but luck was not on his side.

On Sunday, 29 points will be up for grabs, including three bonus points for the qualifying winner and one for the fastest lap of the race. According to Mitch, to become the Formula E champion, the last day of the season needs to go perfectly.

"The situation is not easy, but we are just trying to analyze everything we learned on the first day as thoroughly as possible," commented a disappointed Evans in an interview with Racer. "The task is to make the car fast, or at least it needs to be faster on Sunday so that we have a real chance to contend for pole. Ideally, you need to start the race from pole, and to win the title, I need the day to go perfectly. I think there were a few moments related to qualifying on Saturday where we could have done a bit better.

As for the race, that's another story. We were unlucky: first of all, I had an uncomfortable opponent (Nico Müller, Wehrlein's teammate), and then at an unfortunate moment, yellow flags were displayed on the track, opening a window for pit stops.

But speaking of qualifying, I believe we have the opportunity to improve the car a bit. On Saturday, we didn't manage to prepare the tires correctly, and I also didn't drive a good lap – I just didn't feel confident in the car. All these nuances matter, but if we can fix them, we will have chances.

I have nothing to lose now, and let's hope that this circumstance will become my advantage. You could say I don't feel the pressure anymore, and I need the day to go perfectly. I will try to do everything in my power. I hope the Sunday race will be chaotic and go the way I need it to."

It should be added that today's race will be the last for Evans with Jaguar – a decade-long partnership is coming to an end, but Mitch has not yet spoken about his plans for the next season.
