Formula E: Mahindra drivers took the first starting row

Formula E is known for its unpredictability, and it seems that the London final of the 13th season confirms this.

The drivers of the Indian team Mahindra were hard to classify as favorites, although they can surprise at times. It is no coincidence that Nyck de Vries won the title in the electric series in 2021 while racing for Mercedes, and he has also stepped onto the top podium a couple of times this year. But his teammate, Edoardo Mortara, is also fast, and he finished in the top three this season as well.

In today's qualifying, they outperformed everyone and will start from the front row in the championship's final race, with Nyck securing pole position while also breaking the record for the London track. This is his first such achievement of the season, and Mahindra has successfully qualified for the first time in its history.

Both de Vries and Mortara left Pascal Wehrlein, the winner of yesterday's race and leader of the individual standings, behind. He and Nico Müller, his teammate from the factory Porsche team, will start from the second row, while Mitch Evans, despite all efforts, ended up only in fifth position.

Before the season's final race, the New Zealander, piloting the Jaguar racing electric car for the last time, said he had nothing to lose, but he could realize his remaining chances for the title under one condition: if everything goes perfectly. So far, his hopes are not coming true, but it is possible that this will only add intrigue to the season finale.
