Bortoleto: I have a long-term contract with Audi.
The traditional silly season for Formula 1 is called so because almost every day new versions of possible personnel changes emerge, often contradicting each other. Recently, we quoted the Madrid newspaper Marca, which is usually well-informed about the plans of Spanish drivers, and according to its information, Carlos Sainz is negotiating only with Williams with an eye on 2027, and an announcement about the extension of his contract could be made at any moment. However, the topic of his possible move to Audi is still being discussed, which is why Gabriel Bortoleto, the young driver of the German company's factory team, had to assure everyone in an interview with Motorsport.com that his place of work would not change. According to the 21-year-old Brazilian, the contract with Audi is long-term, and there are no special provisions allowing for early termination. "All of this is confidential, but I can say that there are no special clauses there," said the driver from São Paulo. "I have a long-term contract with Audi, and I will be racing for this team not only next year but also the year after. I have mentioned this from the very beginning, as we have a long-term project, and Mattia Binotto always says that it is planned until 2030. So, let's put it this way." Bortoleto made his Formula 1 debut last year with Sauber during the transition period when the status of the Swiss Hinwil team was changing to Audi's factory project. In 2026, he earned 10 out of 12 points that the team has accumulated in the first 11 races of the season, placing 14th in the individual standings. "When I joined this project, I believed in it, and the team believed in my potential," Gabriel continued. "This year was just the first step, as we have built a new car and created a new engine. Next year, the next step will be taken... I can say that I occupy my place in the team, and I will not comment on the contracts of other people, but I enjoy working with Nico Hülkenberg. I want to state this very clearly, as he is a fast and experienced driver who brings a lot of benefits to the team. But I also believe in my potential and in the work we are doing."
