Alex Albon will stay with Williams in 2027.
Alex Albon will remain with Williams for at least one more season – the team announced the extension of the contract with the 30-year-old driver from London, who competes in Formula 1 under a Thai license.
Alex has been with Williams since 2022, and the July Hungarian Grand Prix marked his milestone, 100th race with the Grove-based team. The team is pleased with its collaboration with Albon, believing that he has played a key role in the process of its reorganization, and the contract extension confirms that both parties are united by a common goal and faith in further progress, despite all the challenges that Williams has faced this season.
It is worth noting that in 2026, Alex set a kind of record for the duration of collaboration with Williams – while Nigel Mansell had 96 races behind the wheel of this team's cars, Albon's upcoming Dutch Grand Prix will be his 101st start.
Alex Albon: "Since I joined Williams in 2022, the changes that have happened with the team are hard to put into words. One difficult season does not give a full picture and only adds motivation, so I want to continue participating in the team-building process and strive for high results together with the entire team.
Our story is not over yet, so right now I am fully focused on accomplishing any tasks that will allow us to return to higher positions."
James Vowles, team principal: "Alex and the Williams F1 Team will continue our incredibly exciting journey together, and I am glad about that. From day one, he has been a leader in our team transformation project, we have many unfinished business, and we intend to achieve a lot.
Alex is one of the best drivers in the championship and knows well that over the past few years we have managed to achieve huge positive changes. The contract extension with this driver demonstrates that we both believe in the correctness of the chosen path."
