Mekis made it clear that the rumors about Max's fees are exaggerated.

Before the start of the Dutch Grand Prix, Laurent Mekies stated in an interview with Sky Sports that the rumors about the astronomical salaries of Max Verstappen at Red Bull, which are actively circulated by the press, are greatly exaggerated.

Laurent Mekies: "All of this is not true. Max signed a contract until 2030 because he believes in our team, in the people who work in Milton Keynes – he knows what our specialists are capable of. And we are trying to repay him for that.

For us, he is not just a very fast driver, and we are doing everything we can to ensure that Max has a truly fast car.

If at the beginning of the year we were more than a second behind the leaders, now we probably only have to make up the last three-tenths, although it is very difficult to do so. But we know that over the course of the race, our car is capable of more than in qualifying mode, and Max always works his usual magic on race day.

In general, I have no doubt that we are in for a very long race, especially considering the weather conditions. When the car is driven by Max, then changeable weather is exactly what we need!"
