Frederic Vasseur: We did not act in the best way.

      Ferrari drivers were unable to reach the podium in Zandvoort, with Lewis Hamilton finishing fourth and Charles Leclerc rounding out the top five. Their cars were closely following George Russell's Mercedes until the checkered flag, but they did not manage to overtake. Frederic Vasseur, the head of the Italian team, believes that the main issues are not related to the potential of the SF-26, but rather to the inability to act correctly at different moments during the race weekend, including executing pit stops clearly.

      "After the finish, it's always easier to reflect. During the race, we had a quite decent pace, but in several cases, we did not act in the best way," Vasseur admitted in an interview with Sky Sports. "I believe we could have achieved a better result. But if we fell short in something, I think it relates more to qualifying than to the race.

      At the same time, we had a poor restart, losing position even though we were on soft tires. At this stage of the race, we lost quite a bit of time, and then we mishandled Charles's pit stop and lost position again. Then there was a misunderstanding with Lewis. However, I believe the pace was quite confident both in the sprint and in the race.

      In any case, it was better than Mercedes, but now we need to analyze everything in detail, figure out what we did wrong to understand why we were losing positions, and try to perform better in the next stage of the season."

      At the final stage of the race, everyone noticed the radio dialogue between Hamilton and his engineer, and Lewis's tone was irritated – the seven-time world champion was clearly dissatisfied with the strategy proposed by the team.

      "At that stage, we didn't want to talk too much on the radio," commented the head of Scuderia. "Behind us was Kimi Antonelli, who was starting to have difficulties, so in Lewis's case, we decided to try to manage without a pit stop, while Charles still had to visit the pits. That's why we thought our drivers shouldn't exchange positions at that moment.

      Perhaps we could have acted better, but it was difficult to explain the situation to Lewis without revealing our plan to the competitors. This is why we made that decision. But I don't think we lost anything specifically because of that. The main issues are still related to the qualifying results.

      If we want to perform better, we must act perfectly. This applies not only to us but to everyone in general. Those who make mistakes can end up dropping from first to fifth or sixth position. This should be a good lesson for the team. In Monza, we need to pull everything together and try to conduct the Italian weekend without mistakes."
