Pierre Gasly: The pace allowed to reach the final
Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto showed the eleventh and fourteenth times in the qualifying session of the Dutch Grand Prix. Both Alpine drivers are hoping to gain positions in the Sunday race.
Pierre Gasly (11th): "It was great to earn a point in the sprint – it’s been a while since we last scored points. We managed to maintain the pace we showed on Friday during the sprint, and that’s positive. The position on the track definitely helped, and I tried to do everything possible to finish eighth.
I’m satisfied with the sprint, but less so with the qualifying result. The session was chaotic, and compared to Friday, there were more issues with pace. But I don’t want to judge too harshly, as the pace allowed us to reach the final – I missed out by less than five hundredths. We will analyze everything to understand what can be improved next time.
We are just starting to work with the updates and learning how to bring them into the optimal working range and maximize their performance. The race in the midfield will continue to be a tight battle, but I’m fully focused on gaining positions and fighting for points in the race."
Franco Colapinto (14th): "Today in qualifying, I squeezed everything out of the car thanks to the good work of the whole team. And although I couldn’t complete the final lap due to traffic, up to that point, the session was going well. I had a good lap, and it’s positive that we are not far from Racing Bulls and Audi.
After the sprint, we made some adjustments to the setup, which allowed us to improve during the day. I’m happy with the changes, as the car became easier to handle and more stable on the track. I’m looking forward to the new updates, and for now, I maximized my performance in qualifying, and I’m pleased with that.
The goal for the race is to move forward. It will be difficult to do so on a dry track, so rain would be welcomed. In any case, we will try to do our best."
