Hadjar remains secured at Red Bull until 2027, according to Mekies.
Laurent Mekies has dismissed claims that Isack Hadjar’s Red Bull seat might be at risk following Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda’s quick adjustments during the Frenchman's injury absence at Zandvoort. In an interview with L’Equipe prior to the Dutch GP, the Red Bull team principal emphasized that Hadjar's position remains stable.
"It’s a minor incident that we’ll quickly forget," he responded when questioned about the broken wrist. "He’s meeting our expectations. His performance in the first part of the season has been excellent."
According to Mekies, Hadjar's greatest asset is his ability to absorb information and continue improving. "He’s like a sponge, soaking up everything he can to get better. He actively seeks out ways to improve with the team and with Max."
"Many drivers can surprise in a race and be exceptionally fast one day. However, Isack consistently showcases his speed in every race." This consistency is particularly important given Red Bull's recent challenges with Verstappen’s teammates.
"We're also conscious that we haven’t always handled the second seat perfectly," Mekies admitted. "But Isack doesn’t view it as a competition. Whether Max is in front or behind, he focuses on how to enhance his performance."
When directly asked about Hadjar’s future, Mekies stated he sees "no reason" for their partnership to come to an end.
