Jos makes jokes about Zandvoort reverting to 'old junk.'

      "Formula 1 has no place here"

      With the departure of Formula 1 from Zandvoort, Jos Verstappen has humorously brought back an old quip regarding the future of the Dutch track. "I wonder if it’s going to turn into old junk here again soon," Verstappen senior chuckled to NOS during the last Dutch GP weekend. This comment harkens back to his much more critical assessment in 2014 when a 16-year-old Max Verstappen was competing in Formula 3 at the venue. "What a load of old junk," he remarked then. "This is faded glory." "Formula 1 has no place here." Fast forward six modern and well-received Dutch GPs, and sporting director Jan Lammers claims that Max was the catalyst for F1's return. "Without Max, we would never have seen the Dutch Grand Prix return," he stated. However, Lammers still hesitates to declare this farewell as final. "This Grand Prix could make a comeback at any moment." Circuit director Robert van Overdijk shares a similarly optimistic outlook about the post-F1 era. "We have a permit for 330 days a year, and 300 of those are automatically booked." "The future of the circuit has never been so promising, even without a Grand Prix."
