Albers predicts a surprise from Verstappen at Monza.

      "They excel with low drag."

Max Verstappen could be an unexpected contender for a win at Monza, despite Red Bull's average performance at Zandvoort, according to Christijan Albers. In a discussion on De Telegraaf's podcast, the former F1 driver suggested that the Italian track should be more favorable to the RB22. "At Monza, Red Bull can still be competitive," he stated. "They perform well in low drag situations, which gives them an advantage. Their performance on the long straights is strong, and they have a solid package for that."

Albers believes this could turn out to be one of the season's surprises. He pointed out that Red Bull's main weaknesses — medium and high-speed corners — are less of a factor at Monza. He also mentioned, "Antonelli will need to change an engine in Monza."

Furthermore, he speculated that both Ferrari and McLaren might find conditions less favorable compared to more flowing circuits. However, Albers views Monza as a crucial opportunity for Verstappen before the championship battle becomes more decisive. "After this, it’s over," he remarked. "Then the competition will primarily be between Norris and Kimi Antonelli."

He believes there is a strong possibility that Norris could become world champion for the second time. "The momentum is building, and it's hard to stop now." Norris currently holds P4 and is 83 points behind Antonelli in the standings, but the reigning champion has recently claimed victory in the last two races with the improving McLaren.
