FIA denounces mistreatment following Colapinto penalty dispute.

The FIA has now become involved in the controversy surrounding the penalties imposed on Franco Colapinto during the Dutch GP, as well as the strong backlash from his sponsor, Mercado Libre. Colapinto had voiced his criticism towards the stewards after receiving two yellow flag penalties at Zandvoort, while Mercado Libre's chief marketing officer, Sean Summers, went further by accusing FIA officials of "undermining the integrity of F1" and questioning whether the issue stemmed from "incompetence" or "dishonesty." Following this, Alpine distanced itself from Summers' comments but still referred to the penalties given to Colapinto as "harsh." The FIA-backed United Against Online Abuse coalition has since released a statement in response to the online personal attacks directed at the stewards. "Following the Dutch GP, FIA stewards faced online abuse after implementing sporting penalties according to FIA regulations," the statement reads. "The United Against Online Abuse coalition condemns all forms of abuse and harassment. While disagreements with decisions are a part of sports, this should never be used to justify threats or personal attacks."
