The 2027 season may start in China.
The statement made by Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali in Zandvoort that "the calendar is confirmed" does not mean that a final decision regarding the end of the season in Qatar and Abu Dhabi has already been made, but rather indicates plans to hold races there. According to The Race, if the conflict between the USA and Iran is not resolved by the end of September, Formula 1 will have to cancel the Grand Prix of Qatar and Abu Dhabi. In this case, the season finale will take place in Imola in December, two weeks after the Las Vegas Grand Prix – we have reported on such plans multiple times.
The situation with the calendar for the next season is even more interesting. Formula 1 has postponed the publication of its preliminary version, which complicates ticket sales. If the situation in the Middle East does not improve by the end of September, this could lead to a revision of plans for 2027.
So far, the calendar for the next season includes the start of the season with two consecutive races in Bahrain (March 14) and Saudi Arabia (March 21), followed by a series of three races in Australia (April 4), Japan (April 11), and China (April 18). However, if there are difficulties with the races in the Middle East, the season will start in March with races in China and Japan. It will not be possible to move Australia to March – construction work on a new pit building is underway at Albert Park, which will only be completed by the April date.
