Mick Schumacher is expected to stay in IndyCar for the 2027 season, despite a challenging debut year, although it seems he will be with a different team. Currently sitting 24th in the standings with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, he recently achieved his best result on a road or street course, finishing P11 in Washington. When asked about his future in IndyCar, Schumacher told f1-insider.com: "I don’t need to search elsewhere. I know where I’ll be."
Reports indicate that he will likely transition to Meyer Shank Racing, following Felix Rosenqvist's departure, with Schumacher being a strong contender for the open seat. This news coincides with Ferrari’s plans for a significant tribute to Michael Schumacher, Mick’s father, at Monza. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ferrari will unveil a special SF-26 livery reminiscent of Michael’s first season with the team in 1996, featuring black wings, a brighter red chassis, and gold wheels.
The Italian Grand Prix will also introduce the Schumacher Lounge, an official hospitality setting that honors Michael’s legacy while raising funds for the Keep Fighting Foundation. Moreover, Rubens Barrichello, who was Schumacher's teammate at Ferrari from 2000 to 2005, has been confirmed as a special guest and will be present on stage in the lounge during the Monza weekend.
