The new Ferrari engine may debut in Monza.

      The FIA confirmed that Ferrari has received permission to upgrade its internal combustion engine as part of the ADUO program. According to the Italian press, the updated engine is already ready; however, the team has not yet decided whether to install it on the cars of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton for the upcoming Italian Grand Prix in Monza. This is because the engine must first receive internal approval from the team based on the results of bench tests. The updated power unit has been assigned the index 067/6, and before being installed on the cars, it must undergo bench tests for durability and reliability, during which the engine must withstand six Grand Prix distances without issues. Under budget constraints for conducting tests, Ferrari can use no more than three benches, although the Scuderia has 21 benches at its disposal. This extends the testing timelines, and if a reliability issue is found that requires even a minor change, the entire process must start over. The updated engine is expected to provide an increase of about 15 hp. As part of its modernization, the turbocharger and combustion chamber have been refined for more efficient operation with the new Shell fuel, which will be used for the first time in Monza. However, Ferrari does not expect to be considered a favorite in Monza even with the updated engine. The characteristics of the track theoretically do not suit the SF-26, so the Scuderia hopes to get as close as possible to Mercedes in qualifying.
