Filming of the prequel to "Ocean's Friends" has begun in Monaco.
We have already mentioned that in 2027, a feature film will be released worldwide, set during the Monaco Grand Prix of 1962. The film will serve as a prequel to the film franchise started by Steven Soderbergh in 2001 with "Ocean's Eleven," in which George Clooney played the charming thief Danny Ocean. The new film will tell the story of Danny's parents, who committed a robbery during the race in Monaco.
Last weekend, filming began on the streets of the principality. Cars styled after 1960s racing vehicles took to the streets of Monaco, and the city was decorated to convey the atmosphere of those years.
Judging by the first signs, it is unlikely that the race script in the film will replicate real events. Firstly, some of the spotted cars do not correspond to that era, and secondly, the cars were moving in the wrong direction on the track.
In the real 1962 Monaco Grand Prix, Jim Clark started from pole but retired on the 55th lap out of 100 due to clutch problems. Out of 22 drivers, only eight reached the finish line. Bruce McLaren won, ahead of Phil Hill and Lorenzo Bandini.
