Milei advocates for Colapinto's return to the Argentine GP.

Argentine president Javier Milei has urged Formula 1 and FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem to bring the Argentine Grand Prix back to Buenos Aires, stating: "We want to see Colapinto in the country." Milei made this request while inaugurating the FIA American Congress in Buenos Aires, where he specifically addressed Argentina's hopes of rejoining Formula 1 with Ben Sulayem.

"Argentina has all the necessary conditions to once again host Formula One," Milei remarked. "We have the tradition. We have the drivers. And we are once again establishing the institutional credibility that these categories require when selecting a host country. We have absolutely everything."

He concluded his request more directly with: "We want to see Colapinto in the country." Argentina last staged a Formula 1 race in 1998, but momentum for its return is now supported by significant redevelopment of the Oscar and Juan Galvez circuit in Buenos Aires. This project is currently about 60 percent complete and has been extended beyond its original MotoGP framework with Formula 1 in mind.

Buenos Aires mayor Jorge Macri recently stated: "We have decided to proceed with the necessary works for F1, which include an access tunnel, a longer hairpin turn, and adjustments to the track." "Formula 1 has been closely monitoring the progress of the construction," Macri added. "Franco Colapinto’s exhibition in Palermo has been very beneficial for us. There is a genuine passion for motorsports here, and we have a strong opportunity to bring Formula 1 back."

The FIA confirmed that Ben Sulayem and Milei discussed "Argentina’s ambitions for the continued growth of motorsport, including Formula 1."
