      "Pasar a Super Formula es un gran salto"

      Max Verstappen dice que apoya totalmente la sorprendente decisión de Kalle Rovanpera de dejar el rally y seguir un camino hacia la Fórmula 1, aunque sea uno de los movimientos de carrera más radicales que ha visto el automovilismo en años. "Es un paso loco, pero me gusta", dijo Verstappen a Viaplay en Austin. "Por supuesto que también me gustaría verlo en el rally, porque creo que el rally es fantástico de ver. Pasar a Super Formula es un gran salto."

      El vigente tetracampeón mundial dijo que le fascina ver cómo se adapta la estrella finlandesa a los monoplazas. "Tiene un gran reto por delante, pero es muy hábil. Tengo ganas de ver cómo va todo esto", añadió Verstappen.

      Rovanpera, de 25 años, competirá en el campeonato Super Formula de Japón en 2026 antes de aspirar a la Fórmula 2 en 2027, todo con el apoyo de Toyota. Toyota está en una nueva alianza técnica y financiera con el equipo Haas, lo que alimenta la especulación de que la asociación podría eventualmente abrir un asiento en la F1 para el dos veces campeón del WRC.

      El veterano piloto finlandés y jefe de equipo Marko Koiranen dijo a Iltalehti que la lógica es clara. "Es fácil sumar uno y uno y obtener dos", afirmó. "Toyota apoya a Kalle y colabora con el equipo Haas de F1. Si todo sale como Kalle y Toyota han planeado, no tengo ni la menor duda de que Kalle encontrará un lugar en la F1."

      El obstáculo más inmediato de Rovanpera, sin embargo, será acumular suficientes puntos de la Superlicencia de la FIA para poder optar a la Fórmula 1. Por eso, según se informa, está considerando una etapa en el Formula Regional Oceania Championship a principios del año que viene para impulsar sus credenciales en monoplazas.
