Piastri: We need to overcome the weaknesses shown in 2024

Last year, Oscar Piastri, although he opened the scoring, lagged behind his McLaren teammate in qualifying, losing to Lando Norris 20 times in a season of 24 rounds. With less than a month to go until the start of the new championship, the Australian driver highlighted the areas he is working on most in 2025. Oscar Piastri: "I had a few weekends where I didn't perform as confidently as I would have liked. I think I have to learn to overcome the difficulties that arise in the course of the weekends to adapt a little bit faster. I had some weekends that didn't start well, especially the sprints, and it was difficult to progress and get back on track. And now we are analyzing everything in detail, trying to understand how we can prepare better for the upcoming season. At the end of last year I said that I had to work on qualifying, but I think now, in the process of detailed analysis, it's clear that it's not only qualifying that needs to be better. There are other, more specific areas, and if I can improve in those, then everything else will improve and I'll have confidence. So we've identified the areas where there is room for improvement and I can work on all of that - hopefully at some point we'll overcome the weaknesses we had last year. Ultimately it will be important this season to perform as well as we can on every race weekend. Of course, there will be weekends when we are not the fastest. We have to learn to maximize on those weekends when we are not at our best."
