Presentations of new cars: Ferrari SF-25
The winter months of 2025 were eventful for Ferrari. At the end of January at the base in Maranello for the first time in the status of the main pilot came Lewis Hamilton, having worked together with Charles Leclair on the simulator and behind the wheel of SF-23 in Fiorano. Then there were two more days of testing under the Pirelli program, and a two-day presentation of the new SF-25. The new car and drivers were shown at the general presentation in London, and the next day Charles Leclair and Lewis Hamilton drove the SF-25 in Fiorano as part of the shooting day allowed by the regulations. The tests were closed to the public, but fans with flags lined up along the fence to see the car dear to their hearts. The move to Scuderia Lewis Hamilton attracted to the most popular team even more attention, more like a stir, so that the communication of racers with the press at the presentation in London team canceled. Scuderia have the highest expectations of the upcoming season, the last under the current regulations, but before the end of winter tests and assessment of the balance of forces, the team decided to limit themselves to general phrases. The car received a laconic and traditional for the last years name, formed from the name of the team Scuderia Ferrari and the last two digits of the year - SF-25. Frederic Wasser, team manager: "The presentation of the new car - a very exciting moment, our whole team is proud. With months of hard work on the SF-25 behind us, we are delighted to see the fruits of our efforts in this car, which is now ready to take to the track. Last season we fought for the Constructors' Cup until the last corner and now we are determined to do better - our goal is to win the championship in both categories. We have a new team, with Lewis Hamilton joining Charles Leclair, and the team is ready to take the next step. We understand the challenges we have to overcome, but we are ready to give our best to perform at the highest level, knowing that we can always count on the support and enthusiasm of our fans, who always inspire us. Now it's time for us to fully focus on what we are doing, and let the results on the track speak for themselves. Personally, I can't wait for the season to start!" The SF-25 is the 71st Formula 1 car built by Ferrari, the fourth of the second generation of grander cars to appear in 2022.
The most notable external change, initiated by Loic Sera, the technical director in charge of chassis development, is the switch to a front suspension system that uses linkages rather than pushrods as was previously the case, making the airflow around the car cleaner and giving more room for further refinement of the aerodynamic trim. It is emphasized that the car in all aspects has become an evolution of last year's SF-24, thanks to which a good foundation was laid. Technical regulations for powertrains are frozen since 2022, so there are no innovations in this area. However, Ferrari motorists are trying to optimize the strategy of using power units to maximize their potential at each stage of the season. During the winter off-season, the number of hours available for engine bench testing is also limited, but Maranello are doing their utmost to improve their all-round reliability, as there is always something to strive for in this area. Loic Sera, Technical Director (Chassis): "The SF-25 is the evolution of the SF-24, which set a great starting point and further direction. In doing so, we've worked hard, redesigning the chassis 99% of the time and refining its architecture to maximize performance. The front suspension, which is based on traction bars, is the most obvious of the many important changes. We expect this season's competition to be very fierce, with thousands of seconds, and we are ready to do everything in our power to make a speed gain, even if the difference is very small. But it can already allow us to achieve important results. We will strive to perform at a competitive level from the very first race." Enrico Gwaltieri, Technical Director (Powertrain): "After many weeks of hard work, the culmination has come and we are in a very combative mood ahead of the new season. The 2025 power unit has been finalized in the context of the current regulations, which have been frozen since 2022, but we are, as always, determined to make each of its components work as efficiently as possible. We have tried to improve our approach to strategy and procedures to ensure that all components of the powertrain work reliably at all stages of the championship. Reliability remains a priority, so quality and consistency remain our focus so that we can deliver the best possible results at all circuits. The 2025 season will present unique challenges, but we are ready for them and are paying maximum attention to all the nuances. We are confident that the SF-25 will enable the team to achieve all of its goals. Charles Leclair: "The presentation of the SF-25 really encouraged me. Every year we work hard to make improvements and the whole team has been working hard for many months. Last year we saw how fierce the competition was and we were close to winning the Constructors' Cup. This year the objective is clear: we want to win the team title and my personal goal is to become world champion. Lewis has joined our team and we are already working together - I hope his experience and approach to business will be a source of inspiration for me. Physically and psychologically I am more than ready for the new season, and I want to start working on the track as soon as possible. I want to do everything I can to get Ferrari back to the top. Lewis Hamilton: "My first few weeks have been absolutely fantastic and above all I've seen the passion and dedication of the whole team. It's been incredible to be involved in my first Ferrari car presentation. A lot of effort has gone into the preparations for the upcoming season and we are determined to succeed. I'm starting the year with high expectations and I'm even more energized by the confidence of everyone I've met this month. I'm also on this journey with the team and I'm looking forward to getting to work on the track as soon as possible so that Charles and I can push each other and do everything we can to make sure the team wins.
