McLaren is unfazed by the newly introduced wing flex tests.

McLaren has stated that it is not concerned about the new wing flexibility tests in Formula 1. The team was prominently involved in the flexibility controversies in 2024, and a month ago, the FIA issued a technical directive to enhance testing measures for the upcoming season. Following the F1 Commission meeting in London on Tuesday, the FIA confirmed that "new, more stringent" tests will be implemented for rear wings starting in Melbourne, with more rigorous deflection tests for front wings expected in Barcelona and beyond.

“No concerns at all,” McLaren boss Andrea Stella responded when questioned about the changes. “We don’t need to make many adjustments at all for the season opener. There will only be a minor adjustment required from race nine. I understand it has become a major topic of discussion, but in terms of what keeps us occupied and what causes us concern, there are entirely different issues that are far more significant.”

The F1 Commission also voted to eliminate restrictions on the total number of permissible gearboxes for 2025 and "discussed proposals for Monaco-specific regulations." "The Commission agreed to increase the required number of pit stops during the race," the statement noted.

When asked about the Monaco-specific rules at the F1 launch event in London, Charles Leclerc remarked, "I believe it will definitely be beneficial. Saturday in Monaco is exciting, but Sunday lacks a bit of intensity. Hopefully, this decision will enhance that."

Fernando Alonso added, "It depends on where you start. If you begin in the last position, you might want 10-12 mandatory pit stops. But I find it appealing. It’s a good option."
