Formula 3 pre-season tests have ended in Barcelona
The pre-season Formula 3 tests ended in Barcelona on Friday. Unlike Wednesday and Thursday, it rained almost all day today, which could not but affect the nature of the work on the track.
The first red flags appeared fifteen minutes after the start of the session, when Van Amersfoort Racing driver Ivan Dominguez spun around in turn five. The car was promptly removed, green flags appeared on the highway, but soon they changed to red again – Bruno del Pino took off at the same fifth turn, and Charlie Wurz stopped at the ninth turn.
The morning session was interrupted three more times due to the departures of Luis Sharpe, Mathias Zagazeta and once again Ivan Dominguez. The best time was shown by Rafal Camara – 1:42.570 seconds, and Lawrence van Hoepen drove the longest distance – 52 laps.
The afternoon session started with red flags due to Theophile Nahel's stop at the exit of the pit lane. The car was quickly wheeled back to the pits, and the session continued.
For the second time, the session was interrupted due to consecutive crashes in the fifth corner by Christian Ho and Luis Sharpe. Later in the session, Nicola Lacorte and Noel Leon crashed out in the same fifth corner.
At the end of the day, the track began to dry out, and Callum Voisin showed the best time on Hard tires, completing a lap in 1:39.031 seconds. Nikola Tsolov drove the longest distance in the afternoon – 48 laps.
The next time the drivers will return to driving Formula 3 cars is at the first stage of the season in Melbourne on March 14-16.
