Briatore: You can't get emotional in Formula 1.

Flavio Briatore, in a recent interview with the French newspaper Le Parisien, once again, and in a very categorical form, made it clear that replacements in the Alpine F1 team during the season are not excluded, and everything will depend on the results.

Briatore, although formally he is only an adviser in the Renault factory team, but he reports directly to the head of the concern, Luca Demeo, and in fact has full authority in personnel matters.

Briatore's statement has caused and is causing a lot of comments about the possible future fate of Jack Duane – by the way, Flavio is his manager. At the same time, the 74-year-old Italian insisted that the team sign a reserve driver contract with Franco Colapinto, having agreed on this with Williams.

There is no doubt that this was done in order for Duane to constantly feel additional pressure – however, according to the Australian racer, he is not afraid of this.

But here's how Briatore looks at the situation: "We'll start the year with Pierre Gasly and Jack Duane, I can guarantee that. After that, we'll see how the season develops. If one of the drivers doesn't progress, doesn't bring me results, I'll replace him. You can't get emotional in Formula 1."

At the same time, Alpine recently announced the signing of a sponsorship contract with the Argentine company Mercado Libre, which provides financial support to Colapinto, which also makes you think.

In another interview with the Argentine TV channel El Trece, Briatore was asked about Mick Schumacher, the 25–year-old son of the seven-time world champion who competes for Alpine in endurance racing.

"He's a fast driver and a very good one," said Flavio, who lured Michael Schumacher from Jordan to join Benetton in 1991, which decades later became the current Alpine F1. "He just needs more experience, but we believe in Franco. We fought for him to join our team. And if we talk about the future, we believe that Franco is one of our most important assets.

In Formula 1, it's important to do everything on time. Colapinto is a nice guy, he respects the sponsors and communicates well with all the engineers. He's already working very hard in our team, and I'm very pleased with him.… I promised him that, together with the engineers, we would do our best to give him the opportunity to prove himself, and then we would see."
