Sauber says they've learned the lessons of last year.

During the overall F1 75 Live presentation, the Sauber team shared several images of their 2025 car created using computer graphics.

The C45 is the latest chassis designed in Hinwil based on Ferrari powerplants, and in 2026 the team will receive factory status, it will be called Audi F1, and German engines developed by Audi Formula Racing GmbH will appear on its cars.

Judging by the images presented by the team four days ago, the 2025 car is very similar to its frankly unsuccessful predecessor, the C44, but James Key, the technical director of the team, assures that the similarity is only external.

James Key: "The aerodynamic body kit has been completely redesigned, the undercarriage has been improved, including the architecture of the front suspension, and an upgraded cooling system is hidden under the body parts.

We worked hard developing the C45, trying to apply everything we learned when dealing with the C44. We tried to rethink our approach to certain areas in order to achieve an increase in speed – we did not succeed with last year's car."

At the same time, the design of the chassis remains the same: the front and rear suspension are based on traction. However, when adjusting the suspension geometry, Sauber/Audi engineers set specific goals for themselves: it was important to reduce the ground clearance of the chassis in high-speed turns in order to increase the downforce generated by the bottom of the car.

Changing the layout of the cooling system made it possible to make the side pontoons slightly different in order to increase the efficiency of the airflow that is directed to the rear of the machine. The upper part of the pontoons has become higher in the cockpit area, although visually these areas of the car are very similar to what we saw on the C44.

At the end of last season, the Swiss team significantly upgraded the underbody of the car, and in preparation for 2025, its aerodynamics specialists continued this work. To what extent their efforts will allow us to achieve improved results, we will find out soon, but Sauber finished last season in last place in the Constructors' Cup.
