Oliver Berman: I consider myself a debutant.

Oliver Berman ran three races in 2024, but before the start of the new season, the Haas driver revealed that he considers himself a debutant in Formula 1.

Oliver Berman: "I continue to consider myself a debutant, although I am not officially one. It seems to me that the approach to determining who is a debutant and who is not is too strict. This season, there will be riders who have traveled a longer distance than me, but they are considered official debutants. It's wrong that I'm not considered a debutant, but I consider myself to be just that.

I'm going to race on tracks that I haven't raced on before, and I haven't spent a full season in Formula 1. That's why I consider myself a debutant, but I was lucky to drive three races and a long distance during the tests. I feel ready for the first season."

In winter, another debutant of the upcoming season, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, passed the exam and received a driver's license. Oliver said that he got his license at the age of 17, but not at the first attempt.

"I probably shouldn't tell you this, but I passed my driver's license on the second try," Berman shared. "I didn't stop at the stop sign. I just slowed down and drove slowly past, even though I should have stopped. There is no such sign on the tracks, so this is the first time I've dealt with it.

I acted like a typical racer who thought he could pass for a driver's license without training. That was my mistake."
