Main features of the AMR25 design

The Aston Martin team, showing images of the AMR25, also talked about the main design features of the new car.

Its front wing is a significantly upgraded version of this element of the aerodynamic body kit, introduced at the end of last season. First of all, it was important to increase downforce at low speeds and improve the overall balance of the chassis, so that the riders felt that the behavior of the car became more stable in all phases of cornering.

The profile of the AMR25 side pontoons has been adjusted, which can be considered the most noticeable change compared to last year's car. A deep cut has appeared in their lower part, and an inclined channel runs along the entire upper surface, contributing to a more efficient direction of air flow.

The dense layout of the radiators of the cooling system of the power plant is now organized somewhat differently – this was required by the new geometry of the side pontoons.

A kind of sharp ridge has appeared on the engine casing, which goes from the upper air intake to the rear wing and helps direct the flow to the rear of the car.

The design of the bottom has been revised, which is done to improve the quality of the flow passing under the machine. The task of more efficient airflow control is also performed by the side pontoons and the body parts of the AMR25 as a whole.

The AMR25's front and rear suspension is based on traction; the new air ducts for the front and rear brakes are designed to improve both brake cooling and airflow characteristics. The team uses Brembo calipers, and Carbon Industrie supplies brake discs and pads.

The rear wing was designed to achieve a more stable behavior of the rear of the car when entering turns by reducing sliding.

Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll will get behind the wheel of the AMR25 for the first time on Monday, February 24, during the filming day and the initial test of the car on the highway in Bahrain. Work at this circuit will continue on Wednesday, when the official pre-season tests begin.
