Adrian Newey's new office is all set for him to begin work on Monday, as stated by Aston Martin CEO Andy Cowell.

Newey, 66, departed from Red Bull amid internal turmoil within the team last year and has been on 'gardening leave' since then. Consequently, he has had no involvement with Aston Martin's 2025 car, which includes the distinctive air intake observed by long-zoom cameras next to the halo during the Bahrain test.

Cowell, previously known as Mercedes' engine chief, began his role at Silverstone in October. "Everyone is very eager to work with Adrian," he told reporters in Bahrain. "His track record is impressive."

"We're excited to welcome him and integrate him as we would with any new hire, even if it may be somewhat different in his case. We'll start by introducing him to the key technical players in our company, showing him the tools for car design, and then we will get to work on developing a car for 2026 while also contributing to enhancements for 2025. I’m confident he’ll adapt much faster than I did," Cowell remarked with a smile.

Notably, he suggested that Aston Martin's primary focus this year will be on the entirely new regulations for 2026, especially with Honda coming on board as the works engine supplier. "For us, certain areas of our business are already fully dedicated to 2026," Cowell mentioned. "The conceptual engineering teams are focused solely on 2026 because they view 2025 as already complete."

Regarding the readiness of Newey's new office at the Silverstone factory, equipped with his well-known traditional drawing board, Cowell commented with a smile: "I could show you a picture, but there are too many of you here to look at my phone. But yes, the office is ready, and the drawing board is in place."
