Okon: The cooling vest is not suitable for us
In 2025, the cars were supposed to have a special cooling system for the riders in case the race was held in very hot conditions, but it has not yet been possible to do it, and the riders were offered a temporary solution - a special vest. During the tests in Bahrain, Esteban Ocon stated that this solution does not work in its current form.
Esteban Ocon: "We can't use a cooling vest at the moment, it just doesn't suit us. I don't think anyone can use it. The current design of the vests creates certain inconveniences.
The tubes that are sewn along the coverall are still nothing, but the liquid supply is too large – the diameter of a lawn tennis ball. If you place such a tube on your chest, it will hurt because of the straps, if you put it on the side, you will not fit on the seat.
This cooling vest is not suitable for us, I have heard that other riders have a similar situation."
