Domenicali to hold race talks in Thailand
We have already mentioned that there may be another stage on the urban highway in the Formula 1 calendar. The Thai government is interested in hosting the Bangkok Grand Prix.
Last year, former Thai Prime Minister Setha Thawisin met twice with Formula 1 President Stefano Domenicali. The first meeting took place after the Chinese Grand Prix, and the second during the Imola stage. However, Thavisin was dismissed in the summer, which led to a pause in negotiations.
On Friday in Melbourne, Stefano Domenicali said that after the completion of the Australian Grand Prix, he would travel to Thailand to negotiate a potential Grand Prix organization.
Stefano Domenicali: "In the last few years, we have focused on those countries that we believe represent the future of Formula 1. But we also receive applications from other places around the world. By the way, after the finish of the race in Melbourne, I will fly to Bangkok to see if the local authorities have a potential interest in hosting the race.
We are receiving applications from different European countries, we see interest from Africa, and now interest from South America."
In 2025, 24 stages are included in the Formula 1 calendar, and the teams are against a further increase. Liberty Media is also not ready to expand the calendar, so if new tracks are added, it will be instead of the current ones or on a rotating basis.
