Two teams have changed the design of the rear wings
As of today, new test requirements have come into force, with the help of which the FIA evaluates the bending stiffness of the upper rear wing bar.
According to Article 3.15.17 of the Technical Regulations, if a vertical load of 75 kg is applied to either end of the main plane of the rear wing, the distance between the main plane and the flap (known as the "gap") should not change by more than 2 mm.
In Shanghai, the gap has been reduced to 0.5 mm, but as an exception due to the fact that the teams received information about the innovations only on March 17, a tolerance of 0.25 mm from 0.5 mm will be allowed in Shanghai.
According to Sky Sports, two teams, Alpine and Haas, had to make changes to the design of the rear wings. In fact, this confirms that the rear wings installed on the cars of these teams in Melbourne did not meet the new requirements of the technical regulations. Interestingly, Alpine and Haas did not earn points in the first stage of the season.
