Wasser: Don't expect everything to change in one day.

After the first three stages of the season, Ferrari has more than three times fewer points than McLaren, and the Italian team is only on the 4th line of the Constructors' Cup. At the same time, Frederic Wasser does not promise to achieve rapid improvements.

"The results of the race reflect what we saw in qualifying," admitted the Scuderia head after the finish of the Japanese Grand Prix. – With the car we have now, we probably couldn't have achieved more. We were two or three tenths behind the best in qualifying, and it was about the same in the race.

We have difficulties in a number of areas, and we must continue to work to figure out how to act in order to fully unlock the car's potential during the preparation for the stages in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. We will soon receive a number of technical innovations, but before we implement them and try to improve the efficiency of the chassis, we need to solve the balance problems.

Once we solve them, it makes sense to try to take a step forward. Of course, we will be implementing updates, but the rivals are doing the same, so do not expect that everything can change in one day. We must try to get the most out of this machine, because the SF-25 has potential. These are the challenges we face in the next two stages of the season.

After the winter tests, we and all the other teams have basic information on the basis of which we will prepare the car for the race in Bahrain, and there we will be able to get a more accurate picture of what level we are at and in what aspects we need to improve."

Vasseur admitted that in Japan, Ferrari had to compromise in the car setup process to avoid a repeat of the problem that caused Lewis Hamilton's disqualification at the previous stage in China.

With cars based on the ground effect principle, any increase in ground clearance affects the effectiveness of the chassis, but this is exactly what the team had to do in Japan.

"Of course, we all want the ground clearance to be lower, and we all want to achieve higher downforce. That would be better, but there is a limit," explained the head of the Italian team. – This limit is associated with the risk that the car will scratch the bottom of the track, but it is also dictated by the regulations.

Over the course of the weekend, all the teams are trying to find this limit, trying to lower the clearance as much as possible, but if you overdo it, it will be too low. Everyone knows that efficiency depends on the height of the ground clearance, and we have already been disqualified a couple of times – all because we tried to approach this limit.

This cannot be considered a feature of the SF-25 or something typical only for Ferrari cars - it applies to all teams. But we haven't had the best start to the season in the last couple of years, and it's not an ideal situation. Of course, we would prefer to fight for victories rather than finish fifth.

But this does not mean that we should change our approach – a year ago we were in almost the same situation, and in terms of pace, everything was even a little worse. But the team's response to these issues was very strong, we continued to work and gradually made improvements."
