Honda has a say in the selection of Aston Martin racers

Next season, Honda will become the supplier of power plants for Aston Martin. Both team drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll have signed contracts for 2026, but Honda Racing Corporation president Koiji Watanabe said the company has a say in choosing the driver line-up.

Koji Watanabe: "The number of seats available for our riders will decrease. However, Honda will still have a say in the selection of the drivers for 2026 and beyond.

Of course, the final decision remains with the team – they will decide which of the riders will get behind the wheel. But in the case of Aston Martin, the situation will be the same as in Red Bull, where we could express our opinion."

Honda has been supporting Yuki Tsunoda for many years, so it is possible that in the future the Japanese will be at Aston Martin, if not the main, then the backup driver.
